THE HISTORY OF THE MANNOR - HOUSE

The mannor - house was built by the brothers Daniel and Pavol Eszterhazy in 1633 as a renaissance fortified object. In 1736 it was rebuilt in baroque style. The marble fireplaces on the first floor preserved since that reconstruction. The present look of the mannor - house was achieved in 1861 after a radical reconstruction by Jozef Eszterhazy, who was inspired by romantic English gothic. The mannor - house is surrounded by a nice park which simplicity is in contrast with the rich decoration of the walls.
Until 1990 the mannor - house was the seat of the Scientific museum. From 1991 it is not used. The building needs a complete reconstruction but the city does not have enough finances. It is protected and secured against devastation. The city ensures the current and the most necessary maintenance.
