The
city of Galanta is situated in the middle part of south
- west Slovakia at Podunajskį valley. It belongs to
Trnava county. Galanta is a district town with almost
17 000 inhabitants. The suburbs Nebojsa, Hody and Javorinka
are part of the city. The distance between Galanta and
the capital city Bratislava is 50 km.
The
oldest written report about the town“s administration
comes from 1237 - 1240. Galanta was developing as a
feudal town with the entitlement to organise fairs.
The family of Eszterhįzy played an important role in
the town“s history since they influenced the life of
Galanta. The Eszterhazys built several buildings there.
The town has an advantageous geographic location and
a universal traffic accessibility.
